Routes Respite Community

About

Routes Respite Community is a day-time program for adults living with an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD) that builds friendships and celebrates the things that make life good. Using our interactive space as a home base for connecting community members, our staff assist individuals to set goals, participate in activities, develop skills, and engage in volunteerism.

Here at Willowbridge, we believe that having choice and freedom are essential to building natural connections and relationships. For this reason, all Routes community members make decisions on both their level of participation and on which activities and opportunities they take part in. Our professional, experienced staff simply extend the circle of care and offer the support needed to build and connect with the community.

  • Arts & Creativity: Exploring talents through arts and crafts, music, dance, and karaoke.
  • Clubs & Hobbies: Joining book clubs, movie days, and other shared-interest groups.
  • Volunteering: Supporting participants to give back to their community through volunteer opportunities.
  • Community Engagement: Encouraging and supporting attendance at local activities and classes.
  • Life Skills Development: Building independence through cooking, budgeting, and communication skills.

Routes Respite Community is available to adults in Brantford and Brant County who are living with an intellectual disability. Fully funded spots are available through Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) for those who meet eligibility criteria. Limited paid spots are also available based on participant needs.

Our program is hosted at our dedicated location at 54 Brant Avenue which serves as a fully equipped home base for all activities, social events, and skill-building opportunities. However, our participants are supported to get out into the community to volunteer, work, play, and build new friendships.
