Blended Families
A blended family, or step family, is where both parents have children from a previous relationship but have combined to form a new family. In Canada, blended families are becoming increasingly common and can mean that the problems of a past family system sometimes cross over to a new one.
Even though conflict happens in all types of families, blended families have many unique challenges that can be difficult to resolve.
These can include sibling rivalries, difficulty sharing parents, new routines, legal disputes, grief and loss, as well as identity confusion. If your blended family is struggling to settle into a comfortable new routine, our family Counsellors can help. Together, we can set boundaries, manage transitions between homes, and support you as you resolve your conflicts.
